Burglary to Building, Theft of Money

Over the weekend of December 5th, 2015, someone broke into a building on North 33rd Street between Buck Trail Road and Calico Lane.  The person stole about $1,900.00 in cash which was mostly in $100 bills.  The person also stole a red vinyl zippered bag from the building.

Theft of Flags
December 18, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who stole six flags from the Veterans Memorial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in the Village of Kronenwetter.

 

On October 9th, 2015, a caretaker at the cemetery discovered the United States flag along with the flags of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and a Prisoner of War flag were stolen.  It is believed the flags were stolen after September 27th, 2015. 

 

All of the stolen flags were purchased from CVS Flags and would have a marking on them from this company.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING SAFETY TIPS

Holiday Shopping Safety Tips:

 

·         Do not leave purchased items visible in your vehicle. Place them in the trunk or cover them with a blanket or other item. Be sure your doors are locked.

·         Avoid overloading yourself with packages. Instead, make frequent trips to your vehicle to lighten your load.

·         Be aware of your surroundings. Walk confidently and briskly. If you see any suspicious activity, notify the police, security, or store employees.

·         Do not leave your purse or wallet unattended for any amount of time.

·         Be aware of strangers approaching you for any reason. At this time of year people may try to distract you with the intention of taking your money or belongings.

·         Be extra cautious when using ATM’s. Use machines located in highly populated areas and be aware of your surroundings.

·         When possible, avoid shopping alone.

·         When shopping during evening hours, park in a well-lit and heavily traveled area.

Wanted Felon

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to find a person with multiple felony arrest warrants.

 

Akeem D.L. Coleman is a black-male who was born in 1990.  He is 5’07” and weighs 160 pounds.  He has multiple tattoos which include an Arkansas map on his left arm and the name Jakiylah Coleman Deserie on his neck.  Coleman has felony arrest warrants for Failing to Return to Jail, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Battery.  Below are pictures of Coleman.

Criminal Damage to a Building and Vehicle
November 25, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify the person responsible for criminal damage to property in the City of Wausau.

 

Sometime overnight between Friday, 11-20-15 and Saturday, 11-21-15, a window next to the front door at Handcrafted Furniture Company was shot out. During the same time frame, a pick-up truck on Chicago Ave was hit in the rear driver’s side door; the sheet metal was punctured but not penetrated. In both cases, it is believed a pistol crossbow was used to cause the damage. A crossbow bolt was found near both incidents. (See attached picture)

Damage to Building
November 20, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify the person who caused extensive damage to the exterior of a business in the Town of Rib Mountain.

 

Between the evening of Friday, November 13th and the morning of Saturday, November 14th, 2015, Olson Floor Coverings building was damaged.  Due to the height of the damage, it’s believed a large truck; possibly a semi-truck and trailer hit the building tearing off a large portion of the overhang of the building.

Theft From a Garage
November 13, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to solve a burglary that occurred in the Township of Reid.

 

Sometime between Saturday, 10/24/15 and Tuesday, 10/25/15, several items were taken from a locked garage on North Shore Drive.  The items stolen were a Cabela’s Deluxe Food Slicer 8.7, a plumbing power snake, and a red power washer steamer.  The total loss is estimated at about $2900.

Strong Armed Robbery of Elderly Person
November 08, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to identify the person robbed an elderly woman of her purse.

 

On September 21st, 2015 at about 1:00 PM, an elderly person went to a grocery store on the west side of Wausau.  After she finished her business, she drove to her residence in the Town of Berlin.  When the woman was near the intersection of Naugart Drive and Adams Lane she noticed a cranberry colored sedan behind her.  The woman drove into her garage before she got out the vehicle a Hispanic woman told the victim her lights didn’t work.  After the victim thanked her for this information and began to get out of her vehicle, the suspect reached for the victim’s purse.  After a struggle, the suspect took the victims purse and left the area in the cranberry colored car; going south on Adams Lane.

Theft of Boat Motor

On either October 14th or October 15th, 2015, unknown people removed a 60 hp Mercury outboard motor from a boat while it was parked on private property in the 5700 block of North 57th Street in the Town of Wausau.  Also stolen at the same time were an Interstate marine battery and an oil injection tank.

Used Cooking Oil Thefts
October 14, 2015

There have been several restaurant used cooking oil thefts in Central Wisconsin and Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to catch the thieves.

 

During the last few months there have been reports in Rothschild, Weston and Wausau of two non-Caucasian males stealing used cooking oil from outside restaurants. When a contracted company went to the restaurants to retrieve the used cooking oil they found the oil was missing from the containers. Several thousand gallons of cooking oil have been stolen. This kind of theft is also occurring in the Fox Valley area and Minneapolis. The used cooking oil is worth money for the bio-fuels industry. 

 

The vehicles involved in the thefts have grease pumping equipment inside them. Some of the vehicles identified as being involved in the thefts in MN are a box truck labeled “Quality Tool”, an Isuzu box truck labeled “St. Paul Pioneer Press”; as well as a 2011 Isuzu Tilt cab box truck from Yellow Ryder Truck Rental.

Burglary to Weston Business
October 11, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find who broke into a business in the Village of Weston.

 

At 11:19 PM on September 30th, 2015, someone broke a window and entered the south side of the restaurant on the corner of Camp Phillips Road and Northwestern Avenue.  Once the person was inside the building, they stole a small quantity of money.  It is believed the suspect fled the area going south on Camp Phillips Road.  The damage to the building will cost the business over $1,000.00 to repair.

Beware of Marijuana Grows
September 30, 2015

September is the month of harvest for outdoor marijuana growers and your help is needed. An outdoor marijuana grow can be any number of plants and the plants can vary in height from 3-8 feet. 

 

Things to look for would be vehicles parked in remote or unusual areas, increased traffic in a particular area, containers of miracle grow, water containers, top soil bags or containers and increased activities in wooded or secluded areas.

 

Marijuana plants normally have 5-9 serrated edged leaves that appear to be a darker green color.  The plant gives off a strong smell of marijuana that is distinct from all other plants.

Criminal Damage to Property, looking for additional victims
September 25, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for victims whose mailboxes were damaged in the Stratford and Edgar areas to contact the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

 

On September 20th, 2015, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department began receiving complaints of damaged mailboxes in at least five different townships in the Stratford and Edgar areas.  All told the Sheriff’s Department talked with 28 different victims with some of the victims saying they heard their mailboxes being damaged around 2:30 in the morning.

 

Through the deputy’s investigation, the Sheriff’s Department identified three different suspects who were all together.  The suspects admitted to damaging between 70 and 100 different mailboxes. 

 

The Sheriff’s Department is trying to find the rest of the victims in order for restitution to be made.  The victims are being asked to call the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department at 715-261-1200 to report their damaged property.

Criminal Damage to Wausau Skeet & Trap Club
September 16, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the people responsible for criminal damage to property in the Village of Brokaw.

 

Sometime between 2pm on Sunday, August 16th and 8pm on Monday, August 17th, 2015 someone entered the Wausau Skeet & Trap Club property on County Rd WW without permission. While on the property, the vandals fired several (17) .22 caliber rifle rounds into a sign and shot a clay pigeon machine thrower with a .22 and a shotgun. There was also a 55-gallon plastic barrel which had four shotgun blasts in it. The damage is estimated at about $500.

Theft from Garage

Bank Robbery in Weston
September 02, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who robbed the Intercity State Bank in the Village of Weston.

 

On Friday, August 15, 2014 about 9:44am an armed robbery occurred at the Intercity State Bank in the Village of Weston.  A weapon was implied during the robbery but no one was injured during the robbery. A picture of the suspect is attached. The suspect was wearing a black baseball hat, glasses, a yellow plaid button up shirt with a black shirt underneath, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. The suspect spoke in a low calm voice and had brown hair. It is unknown if the suspect fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Residential Burglary
August 30, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to determine who broke into a house in the 1300 block of East Troy Street in the Town of Wausau

 

At about 4:15 AM on July 12th, 2015, the Sheriff’s Department was notified of a residential burglary on East Troy Street.  The house was damaged from the people breaking into the house.  The homeowner reported a 1-18” scale orange 1968 Dodge Charger model car, a 1951 pink Cadillac model car, Fostoria wine glasses, a Norte Dame beer mug, eight Ralph Lauren old fashion glasses, and a large quantity of alcohol were stolen.

Strong Armed Robbery

On Friday, July 31, 2015 about 12:30pm, a male grabbed a purse from a 57 year old female as she was sitting on a bench at the Transit Center on Jefferson St waiting for a bus. The suspect is described as a younger black male, wearing light colored pants, a dark T-shirt with writing on it, shoulder length dread locks and carrying a bright colored backpack.  The stolen purse was located in a garbage can in the mall but items were missing from it.

Criminal Damage to Property
August 16, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to determine who was responsible for breaking multiple windows at a business in the Town of Mosinee.

 

In the early morning hours, a business at the intersection of County Road O and State Road 153 discovered three windows broken on a three season porch.  It was believed someone did a burnout in the lot causing rocks to hit and break the windows.  It is believed the windows are going to cost the owners at least $3,000.00 to replace.

Stolen Gift Cards
August 07, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the property stolen from the church during a burglary in the Village of Edgar.

 

Sometime overnight between Saturday, July 18th and Sunday July 19th, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 125 N. 4th Ave was broken into when someone smashed a window to get inside. Once inside the church, the thieves rummaged through every area of the church and caused damage to several doors that were locked to gain entry. There was a small black floor safe that was taken as well as cash.  In addition there were several hundred Scrip gift cards taken. The gift cards were for businesses in the Edgar and surrounding area including: County Market, Fleet Farm, Festival Foods, Kohls, Kwik Trip, Menards, R-Store, Wal-Mart and many more.  There are still hundreds of gift cards that are unaccounted for.
