Vehicle Break-Ins by Marshfield

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to determine who broke into multiple vehicles in the Town of McMillan.
Between August 25th, 2016 and September 11th, 2016, multiple vehicles have been broken into in the Town of McMillian. All the vehicles were parked either on the roads or in driveways on various side roads which all intersected with County Road E between Mann Road and Turtle Ridge Road. Items stolen include cash, personnel identification, sunglasses, binoculars, and a car stereo amongst other items.

Theft of Ginseng

Burglary, Theft of Log Splitter and Chain Saws

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to determine who broke into a building and stole multiple pieces of equipment in the Town of Reid..
Between August 8th and August 11th, 2016, someone went into an outbuilding in the1900 block of Esker Road and stole two Stihl chainsaws, one Model 461 and the other Model 036; and an Ariens model 917001 log splitter. Also stolen were multiple chainsaw chains. This crime cost the victim over $3,000.

Criminal Damage to Stettin Elementary School

STATUS: SOLVEDMarathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify four males who are wanted for Criminal Damage to Property in the City of Wausau.
On August 22, about 1:00am, it appears four males (two arrived on bikes, two arrived on skateboards) accessed the roof of Stettin Elementary School located on N 56th Ave and caused extensive damage to exterior cameras, HVAC equipment, two roof ladders, various pvc and aluminum roof vents and the roof itself. The damage is estimated at about $10,000.

Injured Person at a Bar
August 28, 2016
STATUS: SOLVEDThe suspect in the attached photo broke a beer bottle across the face the victim, causing him to be transported by ambulance and stitches. This incident happened inside the bar. The suspect is a male who was wearing a blue bandana and black leather jacket. The suspect left prior to police arrival on what is believed to be a blue or black Harley Ultra Classic (full touring model with a front fairing and rear trunk).

Help Identify Retail Theft Suspect

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify a male who is wanted for a retail theft in the Village of Rothschild.
On July 18, 2016 about 6:15 pm, a white male stole approximately $180 worth of merchandise from Shopko. The suspect was wearing an orange t-shirt and blue jeans. The male walked to the registers and while waiting for a register to open, he removed the store security cables on an item, grabbed a bottle of Mountain Dew and exited the store making no attempt to pay for the items.

Stolen Homemade Aircraft

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to determine who stole two model aircraft from a garage in the Town of Elderon.
Between August 5 and August 7, 2016 someone went into a garage in the 8100 block of Hickory Road in the Town of Elderon and stole two model aircraft. One was a yellow 1/5th scale Cub replica pontoon plane with “Bass Lake” lettered on the pontoons. The other aircraft was a drone with four motors. Both of these aircraft were homemade by the victim of the theft. Also stolen was an oak wooden box which had accessories for the Cub airplane.

Burglary to Day Care Center

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify a male who burglarized the Daisy Mae Day Care located on Evergreen Rd in the Town of Texas.
On Sunday, July 10 at am, about 5:00pm, an employee went to the Daisy Mae Day Care Center and found an adult white male inside. The male intruder covered his face with a t-shirt and fled out a west side door on foot then to the north through some woods. The white male suspect appeared to be middle-aged with black curly hair and was wearing a gray t-shirt and pants.

Theft of Disc Golf Basket

On or around the night of July13, 2016, someone stole the 13th hole basket from the disc golf course. The basked is marked with “XOXO” which can’t be removed. Even though disc course is in a county park, the baskets on the course are owned by a private citizen.

Abandoned and Mistreated Dogs
July 22, 2016
Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the people responsible for the mistreating and abandoning of two dogs in the Township of Rib Mountain.
On July 11 about 12:35am, it appears two dogs were abandoned in the Wal-Mart parking lot. A witness described a light-colored SUV near where the dogs were abandoned. One of the dogs, a 2 year old black pit-bull mix, was captured and taken to a vet for treatment. There were several scars on the dog’s body which could have come from other dogs or being hit or whipped with an object that would cut the skin. The other dog was a white pit-bull mix, but was not able to be captured and died when it was struck by a vehicle on US 51. This dog also appeared to have old scarring believed to be from bite marks and some new puncture wounds. The dogs may have been used as bait dogs for dog fighting.

Graffiti to Business

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to find a person with painted graffiti on a business building in the Village of Rothschild.
On either the night of July 6,2016 or the morning of July 7, 2016, someone painted graffiti on a business building in the 200 block of Industrial Avenue in the Village of Rothschild. The graffiti had block style lettering saying “Wizards”, another word with “Kush”, and the last word appeared to be “Krug”. Felony Theft/Quick Change Artists
July 08, 2016
Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to locate two males wanted for felony theft and trespassing.
On Saturday, May 21st, 2016, about 8:47pm, an unknown white four door sedan entered the Wal-Mart parking lot in Rib Mountain and two black males, suspected to be Arthur Battis and Vashion Manning exited the vehicle and proceed into the store and go to the service desk. One of the males, Battis, pulls a stack of money out of his pocket and lays some on the counter requesting change for the bills. The subject repeats this action multiple times, appearing to confuse the cashier, causing her to recount her monies numerous times. This occurred for approximately 8 minutes resulting in a $1400 loss. The male in the plaid shirt just stands there the entire time. The two black males exit the store a short time later.
On Saturday, May 21st, 2016, about 9:17pm, it appears the same two black males went to the Cenex station near Edgar and scammed a cashier out of about $117.
On Saturday June 11, 2016 the two suspects returned to Wal-Mart and scammed another cashier out of $260.
One of the suspects, Battis, had been taken into custody in Lacrosse WI recently for doing the same thing there but was released soon after. Battis has a history of doing this at other Wal-Marts in Florida, New Hampshire, Missouri and Wisconsin.

Burglary/Scrap Metal Theft
July 03, 2016
Sometime in the evening of June 1st, 2016 and the morning of June 2nd, 2016, someone entered a shed in the 1500 block of Four Mile Road in the Town of Marathon and stole approximately 300 pounds of scrap copper. The victim had copper bars, motor windings, and electrical wire which they burned off the insulation burnt off. The copper bars were five to six inches long and weighed about two pounds each. Some of the wire was from lightning rods.

Counterfeit Games

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify who is returning counterfeit X-Box and PlayStation 4 games.
On, June 1st, 2016, an unidentified white male returned four video games to the Wausau Wal-Mart. After the games were put back on the shelf for resale, one was returned and found to be a counterfeit disc with no information written to the disc.
As Wal-Mart conducted an internal investigation, it was found this man along with an unidentified white female have conducted the same scam at various Wal-Mart’s throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. It has also been learned the couple have been in Kansas and Iowa. These fraudulent returns have cost Wal-Mart over $10,000 in losses in less than a three week period.
The male with the red hat was involved in this fraud in Medford and Merrill, WI. The other male and female were involved in the frauds in 18 different Wisconsin cities to include Wausau.

Theft of Ginseng

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person responsible for the theft of ginseng in the Town of Cassel.
Sometime between Tuesday, 06/07/16, and Tuesday, 06/14/16, there were approximately 50 ginseng plants stolen from a garden and several plants were damaged. The ginseng plants were stolen from a garden near Weinkauf Rd. The stolen and damaged plants are valued at approximately $500.

Suspicious Vehicle Fires

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person responsible for a vehicle fire in the Town of Hull.
On May 28h, 2016, about 2:58am, a Midway Auto Plow truck was found on fire by a deputy driving by the business. The truck had not been operated since April 2016. On January 13, 2013 at 5:41am a Midway Auto Plow truck was found on fire in the business parking lot as well. The first fire was thought to be electrical in nature, but now it appears there may be someone intentionally starting the fires. The total loss of both plow trucks is estimated at $22,000.

Theft of Computer

On May 17th, 2016, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department was informed a HP laptop computer was missing from his house on Old Dancy Road. It’s believed the computer was stolen sometime between February and May, 2016. The computer is valued at more than $1,000.00.

Theft from Vehicle and Forgery
May 27, 2016
Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify a male who forged two stolen checks at a business in the City of Wausau.
A checkbook was stolen from a pick-up truck and subsequently two checks totaling $1321.90 were written at Fleet Farm on Tuesday, 05/10/16. The suspect purchased an M18 Fuel ½ inch HTIW with Ring Kit, which is a Milwaukee High Tork Impact Wrench. Also purchased with the stolen checks was an M18 3.0 AH Red Lithium XC Battery 2 pack, two M12 12 volt 2.0 AH LI-Ion Compact Batteries, a Milwaukee 7 ¼ Circular Saw, 18M 18 V Job Site Blue Tooth Radio/Charger and an M18 Fuel Impact Driver Kit.
The suspect was captured on surveillance video in Fleet Farm. The suspect is a white male wearing a plaid shirt, black glasses and a camouflage hat with a design on the front.

Criminal Damage at Rib Mountain State Park
May 22, 2016
Marathon County Crime Stoppers is looking for information to identify who vandalized the granite rocks in the Rib Mountain State Park.
On May 9th, 2016, a park guest reported to the staff at Rib Mountain State Park how graffiti had been spray painted on the granite rocks within the park. One of the rocks had an “R” spray painted on it with green and black paint. Another rock “WILK” painted on it with yellow and black spray paint. By this graffiti, was additional spray painted vandalism in black paint. The vandalism is depicted in the photos.

Criminal Damage to Four Residences
May 13, 2016
Marathon County Crime Stoppers asking for your help to find the person responsible for criminal damage to four homes in the Town of Rib Mountain.
Sometime between Thursday, May 5th and Sunday, May 8th, four homes on Jonquil Lane were damaged when someone shot a bb through the living room window of each of the homes. Thankfully no one was hurt. BB’s were recovered in two of the homes. The total damage is estimated at about $2000.
